Prayer Letter - December, 2007

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Merry Christmas! We trust that you will have a wonderful time this year remembering the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Here in Japan we plan to have a special Christmas ladies' Bible study and a special service on Christmas Eve. Please pray that these plans will be blessed. Pray also for the distribution of 5000 copies of my new Christmas tract, "Japanese Like Christmas."

We just returned from the 2007 BWM Japan Fellowship in Nagoya. Missionary Tim Melton did a great job of putting this together. We were also grateful that Brother and Mrs. David Walton, our new Asia field director and his wife, came to be with the missionaries and get to know us. We greatly enjoyed the fellowship with them and with other BWM missionaries in Japan. All in all, we have five missionary families in Japan. Please pray for the three single people who are on deputation with BWM to come to Japan, and for more laborers to be called to this needy field.

Please pray also for some new folk we have coming to church. Mrs. Fujii is still coming faithfully but is not yet saved. She was recently shocked when we asked her what she really believed and she didn't know. Miss Shimada is in a school learning how to work with mentally handicapped people. She received one of our tracts and realized that in order to help people become happy, she needs true happiness herself. Pray for her salvation. Mr. Usuki came to the end of himself after a divorce and a terrible disease from which he still suffers. He then found the Lord through reading the Bible. Pray that he will be strong enough to come to church soon and be baptized.

We thank the Lord for our son, Paul, who faithfully serves the Lord in his local church as he works on his M.Div. degree. He hopes next to earn a Ph.D. in Greek and then teach at a Christian college. Please pray for the Lord's continuing will in his life.

As the year 2008 approaches, we look back at the many blessings of another year in Christ's service, and we look forward to a new year of service. Thanks, as always, for your faithfulness in prayer and support.

In Christ's service,

John and Patty Himes
